Governor Adams Oshiomhole escapes death in auto crash

The GOVERNOR  Adams Oshiomhole  of Edo State,  escaped death in a ghastly motor accident involving the governor’s convoy around Ewu village, Auchi-Benin road on Saturday. 

The incident occurred at about 9.45am on his way to Benin City from his Iyamho Village. 


 It was gathered that the incident occurred when a Peugeot J5 Bus with registration number XB 355 Fugar, conveying tomatoes and plantains lost control while trying to overtake an articulated vehicle and crashed into the governor’s flag car, a BMW bullet proof car, before ending in a ditch.It would be recalled that the governor’s convoy was also involved in an accident last year when a tipper rammed into his car.

Bloody Yuletide: 47 Persons Die In Boat Mishap; Clash Between Tiv and Fulani




 It has been gathered from a reliable source that seven persons lost their lives at Agasha, Guma local government area of the state in a fresh skirmish between the natives and Fulani herdsmen. 


 The crisis which erupted few days to Christmas spilled into yesterday, leaving seven persons dead while property and farmland worth millions of Naira were also destroyed.

The crisis started just few days to Christmas when the herdsmen invaded Nzorov and Gbajimba and from there they moved to Agasha, burning and destroying anything in sight. 


An eye witness said that, the victims of the mishap were young fun seekers; “They met their untimely death while returning from a picnic on the other side of the river. ”When they arrived the boarding point at about 8pm yesterday, most of them were drunk, they boarded the canoe and jam packed themselves in the wooden boat against the advise of everyone including the driver that conveyed them. 

Unfortunately, the canoe could not make it to the other side of the river, it capsized at the middle of the river; as I speak to you, bodies of most of the victims are yet to be recovered from the river. 


When contacted, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Deputy Suprentendent, DSP, Daniel Ezeala confirmed the death of seven persons in the Guma crisis but pointed out that he was yet to get the full details of the Buruku boat mishap.

Boko Haram leader Claims December. 20 Attacks On Barracks








KANO – The leader of Boko Haram sect,Abubakar Shekau, has claimed a daring December 20 raid on a military barracks in the restive northeast, in a video obtained by AFP Friday. 


The insurgents stormed the barracks in the town of Bama in a convoy of trucks before sunrise, opened fired on the soldiers inside then torched the compound. 

Several witnesses said the gunmen kidnapped soldiers as well as women and children.

Finally ASUU Calls Off Strike



ASSU has finally called off its strike, the news was filtered yesterday but it wasn't confirmed. 

it's now been confirmed. 

After more than five months, the Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities (ASUU) has officially called off its strike action starting from today December17th. 

They announced their decision at a press conference today The strike was called off after a meeting in Minna, Niger State yesterday, days after ASUU signed a new agreement with the Federal Government. They have ordered lecturers to resume immediately.

The unity statue was unveiled yesterday December 16th on the lawns of the Union Buildings, which is the seat of government in Pretoria.

 At the ongoing funeral of South Africa’s first democratically elected President, Nelson Mandela, his remains was wrapped in the South African flag, standing atop animal skins at the beginning of the funeral in Mandela’s southeastern childhood village of Qunu. 


The ceremony was poised to be an eclectic mix of traditional rituals, Christian elements and those of a state funeral. 

An ox is slaughtered, the deceased is wrapped in a lion skin and a family elder keeps talking to the body’s spirit: 

The state funeral for South Africa’s anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela will also include those rituals from the tradition of the Xhosa people, to whom Mandela’s Thembu clan belongs. 


 His body will be buried at noon, “when the sun is at its highest and the shadow at its shortest,” Cyril Ramaphosa, deputy leader of the country’s ruling party, the African National Congress, said during the ceremony

 The Nigerian Breweries Plc state of the art Ama brewery located in the Coal City of Enugu state has continued to wax stronger as it celebrated the tenth anniversary recently, the 30MHL capacity Brewery which cost a whopping 220 million Euros (N30 billion) to build in 2003 has created employment for over 1,000 workers, both full time employees, contractors and outsourced.

 The occasion availed the company the opportunity to showcase the facility to journalists with one remarkable feature being its impeccable condition even after ten years of operation.

The Chairman of PDP in Anambra State, Prince Kenneth Emeakayi, was kidnapped yesterday Monday Dec. 2nd by unknown gunmen who abducted him up as he was returning to Awka, the State capital. Prince Emeakayi was said to be returning from his village in Okija when his car was intercepted at a junction in Nri and was taken away by the gunmen. He hasn't been heard from since and the kidnappers are yet to contact his family.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), candidate Mr. Willie Obaino, has been declared winner of the recently held Anambra State governorship election. 

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Anambra chapter declared today Sunday 1st of December in Awka that Mr. Obiano won the election by polling 180,178 votes in 19 local government areas in the state.

He beat PDP candidate Tony Nwoye, to the second position with 97,700 votes and Senator Chris Ngige of the All Progressives Congress, who came third with 95,963, Ifeanyi Ubah, of Labour Party came fourth with 37,495.

Some Few minutes ago before the Fast & Furious actor Paul Walker died in a car accident yesterday, he posed next to the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT that exploded on impact in the deadly accident. 


TMZ reports that this pic above was taken just 30 minutes before the accident. 

 Paul had put together a car show charity event in Santa Clarita, CA. through his Reach Out Worldwide organization, to support typhoon relief efforts in the Philippines and was leaving the event in the red Porsche car when his friend lost control and slammed into a tree.
